Empowering Girls

In the shower's soft cascade, a chord was struck,

My daughter's words, in earnestness, they shook,

"Being a girl is so hard," she voiced aloud,

Her truth, a reflection, my heart avowed.

In cultures where tradition casts its hold,

Women's dreams oft buried, stories untold,

Expected roles of wives and caretakers found,

Pressured to excel or silenced, they're bound.

In history's pages, battles fierce were fought,

For women's rights, they courageously sought,

Abortion's choice, a freedom they defend,

Yet some seek to oppress, the right to amend.

Fifteen years ago, my first daughter came,

A vow to raise her strong, free from shame,

The promise spread to daughters, two and three,

To empower and inspire, to set them free.

Through actions, not just words, true lessons are taught,

My behavior's impact, a mirror sought,

In tears and fears, they saw a path laid bare,

To love themselves, their dreams to dare.

As sixth grade dawned, a revelation clear,

Disconnected from their world so near,

Bullied but silent, in shadows they stayed,

My passions pursued, our bond remade.

Raising girls and a young one to boot,

A challenge embraced, a bond took root,

Heated debates, game nights full of thrill,

Our differences blend, creativity instill.

Arts and sports, both passions we embrace,

Balancing each other with love's embrace,

Outspoken voices, respect intertwined,

A tapestry woven, our spirits aligned.

Being a girl, a journey not in vain,

Challenges abound, but strength we'll attain,

The Universe, its magic, shall restore,

Mending brokenness, attracting much more.

As a mother, I strive, to grow and share,

In our unique ways, a love beyond compare,

For now, my heart's desire, my soul's delight,

In these verses, I'll forever take flight.
